100 Years Campaign

We all have a connection to the First World War, and we all have a reason to say ‘Thank You’ to the special generation who were involved. On November 11 at 11am 100 years ago the guns fell silent on the on the world’s first truly global war. The anniversary is a great opportunity to think about all of those who lived through this tragic and remarkable time – and who put Britain on the path to becoming what it is today. In 2018,
The Royal British Legion is leading the nation in saying Thank You, and remembering all those who served, sacrificed and changed our world in the First World War.

To help support the campaign, our chosen charity this year is the Royal British Legion. We want to raise as much money as we can for this amazing cause to say thank you to all the men and women of our armed forces that have both served, and are currently serving our country today.

The charity has been running since the 1920s, and provides information, advice and guidance to help the Armed Forces community find and access the support they need. They help members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, Reservists, veterans and their families all year round. The money raised goes towards essential support services such as finance, care, recovery, respite and employment. To find out more about their great work visit: www.britishlegion.org.uk

EVENTS

DATE: Sunday September 2

LOCATION: Welsh Road Farm, Offchurch, Warwickshire CV33 9BG

As part of our campaign we have decided to name this part ‘Hambleside Danelaw into the Wild’. 11 employees are taking on the Wolf Run challenge.
The Wolf Run is wild running – a unique combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs. Voted the best OCR in the UK, it’s a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes and thick mud. We’ll tackle a series of tough obstacles, both man-made and natural designed to test your mental and physical strength, skill and stamina. We’ll run, climb, jump, wade, crawl and swim through a course designed to challenge you on every level. You can find out further details of the Wolf Run on their website www.thewolfrun.com. If you’d like to take part with us, just let us know!

2. REMEMBER SOMEONE WHO DIED IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR

More than 1.1 million commonwealth service men and women gave their lives in the First World War. As part of the Royal British Legion EVERY ONE REMEMBERED campaign, there is a dedicated webpage where the aim is to ensure the sacrifice of everyone who died is never forgotten.

As part of the campaign you can nominate a person who you know –  perhaps a family member, someone from your local area; or alternatively you can be provided with someone to remember, and leave a short message to commemorate their life. At present there is still over 650,000 to be remembered. We’ll be nominating someone every day until Nov 11th.
