Gary takes on tough 500,000 step challenge to raise money for a great cause!

SANDS, the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity in the UK is running a fundraising campaign for participants to complete 310,000 steps in October #stepsforsands.

This wasn’t enough for Hambleside Danelaw employee Gary Warrington – oh no, he’s going to attempt an amazing 500,000 steps in 31 days… that’s approximately 250 miles! Gary usually does 8,000 steps a day, so it will be a massive challenge upping his step count to 16,100 a day, but one he is relishing doing!

It’s now 3 years since his amazing sponsors helped him raise over £2,000 for SANDS by supporting him whilst he completed the Manchester Half Marathon 2017 – and he did this from couch to half marathon, so he does love a challenge.

Gary was hoping to do something similar to raise money this year, but events have stopped this from happening, and as SANDS are running the campaign it gave him the idea not only to take part, but also smash the total.
