Hambleside Danelaw Limited is an award winning British manufacturer of roofing, cladding and ventilation products. In 2015, with the improvement in the economy and in particular the construction sector, Hambleside Danelaw is committed to making a substantial investment in its manufacturing capacity at Daventry.
With support from its landlord, Daventry District Council, Hambleside Danelaw proposes to expand its operations in a newly built 30,000 square foot extension to its landmark headquarters in Long March and install a new continuous profiling GRP production line.
Daventry District Council has agreed (subject to planning) to construct the extension under a long term lease with Hambleside Danelaw.
The building is an asset of Daventry District Council. Its investment will generate a commercial rate of return in the form of rental income for the benefit of ratepayers for very many years.
The new continuous profiling production line in the extension will be manufactured by a specialist engineering company based in the UK, boosting GDP and supporting a vital part of the national industrial base as well as providing direct benefits and opportunities for local suppliers as Hambleside Danelaw’s Daventry operations expand.
The new line will be modelled on the existing highly successful plant that Hambleside Danelaw operates in Inverness. When commissioned, it will focus on manufacturing GRP translucent ‘Zenon’ rooflight range which is currently produced north of the border.
The expansion will create up to 25 employment opportunities.
Hambleside Danelaw is considering the recruitment of young local apprentices under the government’s apprenticeship scheme to help address the problem of youth unemployment.
This boost in local employment would help provide a direct financial benefit for up to 100 Daventry residents, given the average UK family size (ONS survey 2012).
The building extension will incorporate the latest environmental technology, including Hambleside Danelaw’s own energy efficient ‘Zenon’ rooflights as well as solar power technology. These measures help to ensure the best possible working conditions for the staff and continue Hambleside Danelaw’s long-term carbon footprint reduction programme.
This will help Hambleside Danelaw streamline its production and improve lead times. It will have a positive impact on Hambleside Danelaw’s carbon footprint as it will substantially reduce overall product miles for the benefit of the environment and road users generally.
Hambleside Danelaw Limited is an award winning, British Standards approved manufacturer of roofing, cladding and ventilation products, patented ‘Dry Fix’ range of valley gutters, and its new light weight low carbon ‘Zenon’ rooflights. These rooflights reduce both the need for artificial light in industrial buildings and warehouses and the amount of embodied carbon involved in their production.
Hambleside Danelaw is part of a diversified UK national group based in Waterlooville, Inverness and Daventry that has been trading successfully for over 40 years, employing just fewer than 100 people.
Hambleside Danelaw uses sophisticated manufacturing technologies, including continuous glass reinforced polyester (GRP) sheet production, injection moulding, vacuum forming and extrusion. It has a policy of continually improving its premises and processes to reduce its carbon footprint.
In 2006, Hambleside Danelaw received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. This was in recognition of the company’s outstanding contribution to the reduction of heat loss and energy consumption in the building industry by means of its range of insulated rooflight assemblies.
In addition to this distinction, Hambleside Danelaw has repeatedly been recognised by the Green Apple Environment Awards organisation; this is an annual international campaign which identifies, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.
Hambleside Danelaw holds the International Standard ISO 14001 in recognition of its environmental management systems and policies.
Locally, the company was delighted to have been highly commended in the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce annual awards for 2014
These awards underline the group’s powerful and long standing focus on environmental issues and innovation in industry.
This expansion is a very substantial investment for Hambleside Danelaw and reflects its strong long-term commitment to Daventry and its residents. District ratepayers will see a return on the Council’s investment in the form of rental income and the town will benefit from the creation of new jobs in advanced manufacturing.
